Fall Break: Woo!

image

Eh, so this isn't quite the same holiday, but I'm not that creative, but you get the picture (ha! word play). Today was my first official day of Fall Break and I couldn't be more excited. It's just so nice to have a break (no matter how small) in the middle of the semester to give yourself some breathing room. Whether you stay near campus, go off to visit loved ones, or just go back home to chill it's wonderful to have some time where your brain doesn't constantly have to be on.

I broke up my 6 hour drive down by staying overnight Thursday with my Maxine in New York and drove down the rest of the way yesterday. I'm catching up with my sleep and spending time with my lovely family. Today my mama and I basically went wherever the wind blew us. We started in downtown Lititz which was a hustle and bustle of activity because it was the annual Chocolate Walk , but we checked out a new thrift store that just opened, Uncle Funky's. It had a really funky vibe and I hope stays in business. Lititz really needed something a little funkier to give it that edge. We then headed out to another antique-y store outside of town where I scooped up some fun stereographs from the early 1900s for super cheap. It was just a hop skip and a jump over to my favorite record shop to pick up a few new albums. Last stop of the day was a trip to JoAnn's to get a new dress pattern and fabric so Mama B and I can start on a new little project that I'm super excited about.

I'm tiredly waiting for Katie to get back from work so we can actually hang, but today has been such a great day and I can't wait for the rest of my break!

Item of the Day

Tea Sub

I thought that this might be just a way of sharing the various things on the internet that I've seen and subsequently want immediately. I'm trying to justify this as something different than an I'm Obsessed! post, and I think I've got it. When I'm obsessed with something, I constantly go back to it daily. This is more for something that I see and fancy. What better way to start than with this adorable tea infuser? I've been in tea heaven while living in London. Even the teabag tea tastes better than the stuff at home. Ideally this would be used in my beautiful future town house in the throws of Hackney. How could you have this and not smile? I love the Beatles, I love tea, and I love this. We all live in a...

Home

Home, where my thought's escaping
Home, where my music's playing
Home, where my love lies waiting
Silently for me

It feels so great to be home. I love the college life, but sometimes it just feels nice to go back to your childhood filled with a place of warm and love. Since I'm not in New England for the holidays, I never really decorated my room. After driving for six hours home to Pennsylvania, it felt so inviting to walk in to the Christmas tree all lit up and decorated as the presents laid scattered around the bottom. Apparently we take this holiday magic for granted because my younger sister didn't seem to feel anything. Ah well. In due time she'll leave for school and she'll miss the cozy comfort of home. I got to sleep in my antique full bed last night which was luxurious! Right now I'm just chilling and getting somethings done (like blog writing) to prepare for the holidays. What I should be doing is unpacking all of school stuff so I can turn around and pack everything back up in time to go to the UK. Argh! I'm like freaking out with so much to do in very little time to do it. I'll be back soon with a few posts I have in mind, but right now there are more important things to take care of. Aka: my mother left a quarter of a tub worth of Toll House Cookie dough in the fridge and it is just calling my name (I'm a bit of a stereotype).
